Casa dos Vinhos Verdes - Palacete Silva Monteiro

If you haven’t yet visited "The most beautiful house in Porto”, don’t miss the chance to discover the Casa dos Vinhos Verdes – Palacete Silva Monteiro, a stately home built in the 1900s with exquisite architectural features that will transport visitors back to 19th-century Porto.

One-hour guided tours are available on Saturdays between 2:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Visitors learn all about the different parts of the Casa, which has been the headquarters of the Viticulture Commission of the Vinhos Verdes Region (CVRVV) since 1944 and is one of the most opulent examples of the passage through Porto of returned emigrants who’d found wealth in Brazil.

The interior of the house reflects and preserves the refined taste of António da Silva Monteiro, a wealthy Portuguese trader and philanthropist who traveled the world and brought back a range of outstanding esthetic delights to adorn his home.

The same concern for esthetics can be enjoyed in the gardens where the Fonte das Três Graças (Fountain of Three Graces) is located and in the romantic walkways that lead to one of the most amazing views over the Douro River. The tour ends with a Vinhos Verdes wine tasting, showcasing the richness and variety of the Vinhos Verdes Region.
