Palácio da Brejoeira - Activities and Visits
Built in the early 19th century, this palace has been classified as a National Heritage site since 1910 and is a particularly important example of the crossover between the Baroque and Neoclassical styles. The woods and gardens are in perfect harmony with the surrounding vineyards and reflect the wine-growing environment that has provided the backdrop for the prestigious Palácio da Brejoeira brand (wines and aguardentes), produced from the Alvarinho grape variety.
Here you will find a remarkable combination: the palace, the chapel, the woods, the gardens, the vineyards and the ancient winery, a captivating and enchanting setting that exudes harmony. Construction began in 1806 and was completed in 1834. In 1908, a theatre was added and the walls of the atrium and staircase were covered with tiles. At the same time, the gardens were renovated, as were the woods that shelter a host of exotic species. A beautiful lake was also added.
In 1937, Francisco de Oliveira Paes acquired the property as a gift for his daughter, the current shareholder of the company, and it became the charming Quinta do Valle da Roza and is now known as Quinta da Brejoeira.
