Quinta do Ameal

Quinta do Ameal, located in the Vinhos Verdes region, in the Lima subregion—the birthplace of the Loureiro grape variety—is a historic estate with records dating back to 1710. 

Located 30 km from the Atlantic Ocean, Quinta do Ameal has an 800-meter riverfront, an elevation ranging from 12 to 53 meters, deep and fertile granite soils, an average temperature of 14.9 degrees Celsius, and 1,300 millimeters of rainfall. Of its 30 hectares, 14 are planted with Loureiro grapevines and eight are forested, with walnut, chestnut, and stone pine trees being the most abundant, some of which are over 200 years old. The combination of these characteristics with the Loureiro grape variety results in unique wines, full of character and with great aging potential.

Wine tourism at Quinta do Ameal provides guests with a retreat as well as being a starting point for discovering the Lima Valley and the Loureiro grape variety. The Casa Grande with three separate suites, and the Casa da Vinha with two suites offer guests both the privacy and the comfort they need. In addition to visits to the wineries and wine tastings, you can also try a range of different activities, such as guided kayak tours along the river, cycling, river trekking or walking along the Lima River eco-trail starting from Quinta do Ameal.
