Quinta do Tamariz
Quinta do Tamariz is a land steeped in history and stories.
The legacy of what is now Quinta do Tamariz was first established by António Borges in the late 19th century. A banker completely devoted to the pleasures of winemaking, he decided to expand his business—initially focusing on the prestigious Casa Borges & Irmão bank—to include the export of wines produced on his estates.
Significant expansion of the wine business began, however, in 1926, with António’s daughter, Lúcia Borges Vinagre, who had inherited the Barcelos estates in S. Miguel da Carreira from her father.
The motto adopted both in the vineyard and in the winery is "More physical, less chemical.”
Quinta do Tamariz upholds the tradition and experience accumulated over four generations, always with an eye on the future, as it seeks to take a leading position in the wine market.
Throughout the winemaking and bottling process, we strive to preserve the memory of a time that has outlived us. The same passion that drove our ancestors inspires us to ensure that every bottle is an experience never to be forgotten.
We produce wines, sparkling wines, and wine spirits, all aged in Limousin oak barrels.
We are independent winemakers.
